Actually I don't have a problem with taking a number to mark my position in the queue. It means I can sit down instead of standing in case any one queue jumps. You see them everywhere, delis, Argos &c.

It is interesting. My one time at Disney World Florida, many years ago, and when I returned home I wrote them a letter saying I thought having to stand in queues for ages wasn't ideal, and they should use the 'grab a ticket' method for their rides. I got a letter back in reply basically saying that they were not interested. Someone told me, not so long ago now, that, that is exactly what they do now. Not that I'll ever be going back to check.
