Yes .... there are side effects as with all drugs. This particular anti depressant is hard to find information about. You could try the web site www.cipralex.com although you will need to register to be able to view. Your doctor is the best person to ask because only he knows your full medical history and can advise you of potential effects that you may suffer.
Cipralex is the trade name for the drug escitalopram and has a recommended dosage of 10 m/g per day one dose administered in the morning or evening....possible side effects are as follows:

Thanks for the information. Have had nearly all those side effects so far and i`m feeling awful! Hopefully the good will outweigh the bad?. Has anyone else had the side effects too but felt better mentally? Thanks again for the reply.
it might be that what you're experiencing may be due to the way you're feeling. If you don't get any benefit from them, but give it about 6 weeks, go back to the doc, there are lots of others that can be tried out and what suits one, may not suit you.
Hi Sharon I've been on Cipralex for six weeks now to help me come of Seroxat (don't touch that medication with a barge pole). Initially I felt a bit sick and had headaches and itching but it wore off after a week. I now feel a bit down and teary - although I think that may be a bit of a combination of things such as the change in weather and swapping medication. Stick with it and make sure you look after yourself - exercise, eat well, get plenty of rest and chill out time. If you search for Cipralex on AB, you'll find two other threads about it's side effects. Good luck x

Thank u Pandoradeus and Nickieberry. Have taken others before inc Seroxat but never experienced anything like this. I wake up sweating buckets, spend an hour or so after taking them with my head down the loo. Am starting to feel a bit more level which I am very happy about as I was getting worried I`d end up being how I used to be, very bad. It`s really cheered me up u both replying as I have no support and my children don`t are not of the age to be laden down with all this. Am glad that you`re feeling better N, sometimes the tearfulness is a release and can feel alot better after wailing like a baby for a while! Take care both of you. thak you. x
No problem Sharon. You sound like you need some support - is there anyway you can get help from friends and family? My friends and family have been invaluable in getting me through my depression. My partner left me when our son was 8 months old (he left me for a women he had being having an affair with since my son was five months old). I nearly lost my home, job and son. The medication helped but it was the emotional support that got me through it. Have you thought about counselling if family is out of reach? Take care x
