Long thought to have been killed at The Battle of Hastings ( 1066 ) and buried at Bosham , under a church floor. Now they are going to exhume the bones and check the DNA of them.
My question is , with what or whom will they check it ?

I don't know if they've found a descendant like they did with Richard 3rd but they can tell a lot of other stuff with DNA.
That'll put paid to our town's yearly celebrations if it's true. King H is supposed to be buried in our local church.
I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
^groan. ;)
two groans ^
What does it matter where he's buried? Surely the magic that attracts tourists to the tomb is all in the mind, and eye, of the beholder.
Straight into the eye of the storm there, Douglas.

With his age, most of us are probably related to King Harry in some way,.....my grandfather to the 47th generation was his son.....so I am told.
must have been short-lived, dtc - I'd have thought there were 30-odd generations going back that far?

I think his grandson founded Moscow.
It is an interesting question. But I guess one has a better chance of identifying direct or near direct descendants of royalty than most others.
I lived in Bosham and am unaware that Harold was supposed to be buried there, Canute 's daughter is buried in the crypt and Bosham is thought to be the site of Canute 's summer palace, what connection did Harold have ?
Wiki makes reference to the Bosham story.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Godwinson

Quote from Wiki "Harold's strong association with Bosham, his birthplace, and the discovery in 1954 of an Anglo-Saxon coffin in the church there, has led some to suggest it as the place of King Harold's burial. A request to exhume a grave in Bosham church was refused by the Diocese of Chichester in December 2003, the Chancellor having ruled that the chances of establishing the identity of the body as Harold's were too slim to justify disturbing a burial place."
