As you may or may not Francis Dunnery was the founding member of the 80s Progressive Rock Band "It Bites" who were formed in Cumbria ,he is releasing his new Album and Touring the UK starting this week. The new album "Vultures" which I have had a sneak preview sounds really very good ,whilst in this country (Francis now lives in The USA)he will be playing some House Gigs ,this is where the artist comes into your home and he will play /sing tell stories etc for your family and friends.
Has anyone had an event like this happen to them or have been invited to one ,I think this started in The USA.
It Bites have reformed and gigging all over the World
If you are into It Bites or Francis Dunnery please share.

I have interviewed a number of acoustic musicians who do 'house' shows, they are an American phenomenon, mostly because Americans have the house room for a good sized crowd, and usually the musician gets dinner and a bed for the night - Americans are more hospitable that Brits!

I never really too into It Bites, but I have a FD solo album - Tall Blonde Hellicopter which is an excellent record.
odd, i havent heard about it bites since the 80's but they were mentioned on popmaster on friday, and now you
I remember It Bites from the 80s but it's the first time I've ever heard them referred to as a Progressive Rock band- I thought that label referred to bands like King Crimson from the 1968-72 era. Anyway, it's good to know that artists like this are still going strong. I wonder how much he charges?

I would highly recommend the recent "It Bites" albums "Map of The Past" .and "Tall Ships"both albums feature the new Lead Guitarist John Mitchell who also sings lead vocals ,Virgin are releasing the first 3 studio albums and a Live album under the title "Whole New World".
I have had the pleasure of seeing the original line up of "It Bites" ,three times and to my surprise I went to see the American Rock band "Hootie and The Blowfish" and support was Francis Dunnery.a brilliant night.
Factor-Fiction to to pick up on your comment regarding Prog Rock originally "It Bites" were marketed as a Pop Band, After the single "Calling all The Heroes" the band were then to hit the road as a Rock band and bloody good they were and in fact they still are.
Check out the newest albums ,Give your ears a treat you deserve it.
In A Mo
I've been to a couple of those "house" gigs in this country, Mo. Both times, they were recording artists, but not known over here. These particular guys worked with Mickey Newbury, a known Nashville songwriter.

They are really good events usually. Very personal, even intimate. Nicely relaxed in someone's (large) sitting-room.

You'll enjoy it.
