Is there really any difference between moisturisers for night and day? or is is just a scam to get you to buy two?

I honestly believe that all moisturisers are basically the same.

Night moisturiser may not be 'absorbed' so readily and leave your skin looking shiny.

I think that you are far better to use a cheap moisturiser twice a day than an expensive one sparingly. The long term effects will be the same.

If you like the feeling of the heavier 'night' moisturiser - E45 is cheap and very effective.

Night creams are much thicker and are much richer, moisturising more intensely overnight. I can still feel my night cream the next morning

Day creams (well the decent brands anyway), tend to be lighter, more quickly absorbed, and contain more protection ie against sun and pollution damage.

I use No. 7 Essential Light Moisteriser in the morning & at night.

I've only gone as far as looking at day & night ones, but as my skin always feels nice, the one I use does for me.

My day moisturiser has an spf factor which there is no need for tucked up in my bed at night.

The night one is really rich and does make a difference.

They don't need to be the same brand though, although the manufacturers always say for best results use in conjunction with our whole range.
You shouldn't really use night cream. Your skin needs to breathe and let the toxins out at night. Since I stopped using night cream, my skin has improved tenfold!

my lecturers at college (im studying beauty therapy) hav different opinions on day and night creams. some say your skin cant tell the difference between night and day so one moisturiser should be fine and others say that you need a thicker cream at night while your skin is repairing itself.
