Try giving it a good dose of redx it might help
First bit of advise, do not go onto the Motorway, there seems to be a Fuel / ECU Problem here, I would get the system checked, but keep off the Motorway unless she wants to end up in a box.
probably a diesel going into limp mode.
Limp mode would put the engine managment light on.

it'spetrol, and also if she stops and restarts the engine, its fine again.
I agree with TWR. Stay off the motorway.
A lorry behind you can't stop if you lose power without warning.
I would take it to a mechanic before shoving additives in the engine and I wouldn't drive it until it was fixed.
It's a pretty dangerous fault.
Has TWR say's, it does sound like some sort of ECU fault. By turning of the ignition and restarting the engine it is resetting it ( temporarily ).
I'm surprised that the engine management light is not coming on though.
Agree with tony, the ecu is training itself from start-up - the car will be okay and then suddenly do this.... Merc garage soonest me thinks.
I would take it straight to a garage.
