I promised I would post again about my silly locked down fingers. Well, I had the MRI scan on 26th May & saw the consultant again in out-patients today. Well, the MRI only revealed thickening of the tendons in my palm but nothing more. Once again he tried to straighten my fingers but the pain was just unbearable. He said he is not going to operate again but has decided to refer me to a neurologist to check I haven't got early Parkinson's Disease. I'm a little baffled here...these two fingers have been permanently locked towards my palm for almost 5 months now & goodness knows how much time I am going to have to wait for this next hospital appointment. I did speak to him regarding his wording in his letter to my GP "supratentorial origin" but he just said it was a thought he had in the past. I think I am going to see my GP for advice maybe for another opinion but then again, that will take ages to sort out too. I am just so fed up with it all. I can't drive, can't carry shopping & getting through crockery at an alarming rate due to me dropping it whilst washing up!!

\\\ I eventually had surgery in a medical centre in March 2013 by a GP who was not a hand surgeon & quite simply, my fingers have never been right although they were straight for a time & not triggering.\\\ This is totally unacceptable and in my opinion I would seek the advice of a solicitor. The pictures of your fingers are also worrying. \\\\Well, the MRI only...

You are having a rough time! And not much further forward...thank you for the update. I do hope they get this sorted soon xx
Like pixie.....thanks for the update.

Just remind me.......which tendons were released in your operation.....thumb,index finger OR both?
Question Author
tendons were released on middle & ring fingers Sqad. This has been going on now for far too long....you may recall a long while ago I posted about the original diagnosis of trigger fingers & the fact that Primary Care Trust said this procedure could not be done in a hospital environment although at that time (January 2013) the consultant at my local hospital was happy to do the surgery. I eventually had surgery in a medical centre in March 2013 by a GP who was not a hand surgeon & quite simply, my fingers have never been right although they were straight for a time & not triggering. To have them permanently locked like this is worrying as I do wonder if I will ever get full use of them again should they eventually be straightened. No mention by the hand specialist I saw yesterday (and who operated & released tendons last August) of the blackness of my fingers on now three separate occasions (pics below again). I am utterly fed up with it as you will obviously appreciate.

Do you mean thickening of ALL the tendons in the hand or just the middle and ring fingers?
Question Author
The only tendons that are thickened are the middle & ring fingers. A hard lump can be felt in the palm area. I think if the pic of my fingers (previous post below) is enlarged, the lumps can be seen. I have consulted a solicitor & my concerns are being scrutinised by them. The frustrating thing is if I had been allowed surgery back in January last year in "the right hands" I probably would never have had the trouble now. I think the surgeon I saw yesterday is "grasping at straws" with his feelings about Parkinson's....well, I hope it is not as serious as that. thanks Sqad & as I've said before..watch this space!
Wishing you luck, and try and get sorted very soon.
They cocked my hand up after a skin graft at the base of my little finger, and had to have the finger amputated. All this was after them putting a pin in to straighten the finger. All this happened over 2 yrs or so .
To taper it off to make it look so much better, i also lost part of the knuckle.
This is still sore after 10 yrs since the op.

I just wish the pain would subside. I wake through the night with pain in the back of my knuckles & just want it sorted. I am thinking of seeing my GP again this coming week - I just can't wait weeks & weeks for another appointment to see the next consultant. thanks pusskin x

Question Author
well, just an update again. this problem with my hand is becoming tedious & I am extremely concerned that my middle & ring fingers are still locked down to the palm (more so than the pics I posted in the links within this topic some months ago). I finally went to see the Neurologist last week as the hand surgeon told me he was not going to operate again & discharged me. He said he had never come across problems like mine before so sent me to see this lovely Neurologist who after talking to me for several minutes & getting me to perform reflex tests etc he declared (to my joy!) that I have no problem with my brain. Well, I wasn't surprised as I didn't think there was anything wrong nor did my GP. I have been back to see my GP & asked "where do I go now"! She wants to wait for a letter to come from the consultant I saw last week (he is sending me a copy of this letter too). I have been like this since February this year but had the problem with my fingers since January 2013. If the Primary Care Trust had not refused me an operation back in early 2013 I am convinced I wouldn't still be having this bother. I actually had Dupuytren's operation some 25 plus years ago on my other hand (in hospital) & not had a bit of trouble since. Do I have to get a letter from my GP to see a private consultant? I know it would cost me dearly but I am in pain as it is & want it sorted.
