I've no idea why but the word suddenly came to me as I was describing how a shop assistant rolled up a jersey I had bought and stuffed it into a too small bag! I realise I am a Brummie but can find no record when I just googled the word. Therefore are there any Brummies' out there who can confirm or deny the existence of such a word please?

I'm not a Brummie, but the old words 'roble' and 'romble' were variants of 'rumble'; there might even be a connection withh 'rumPle'. That would seem to fit the situation you describe quite well.
I am a Brummie, but I have never heard of either word.
