From a legal stand point, if you are in employment that you hate, have never been treated fairly by your employer, have never had proper wage or a contract and are looking for another job, do you need/have to give any sort of notice when you do find other employment.

No, but if you have any interviews, I'd advise you NOT to say you are just going to go without notice. YOU may know that your current employer doesn't deserve consideration, they don't, and they could think if you'll do it once, you'll do it again.
If you dont have a contract, or need the reference, Just walk. There isn't a damn thing they can do about it.
If you've got evidence of unfair treatment, lack of contract, etc. - google "constructive dismissal" and see what you find
you usually give them the notice in which you are paid..i.e if you are paid weekly then they require a week's notice and if you are paid monthly then a months notice is required
