has anyone else got a pet whos a fussy eater, ive tried all dog foods on the market wet and dry and mixed but he a'nt happy with any, tried the just leave it and if there hungry aproach wasn't sucessfull he just beged for our dinner, which is what he eats most days no matter what it is curry chilli the lot, even tried warming his dog food but nope. he likes cat food and would happily eat this but the vet told me off aand said its to high in protein for a dogs kidneys so had to stop that, he looks healthy anough and has got plenty of energy, should i carry on with giving him our food or are there any ideas how to get him happy on dog food.

we once had a family dog that was the same but the vet told us to give him cat food he eat it ok and lived till he was 16 I would get a second opinion

go back to a decent dry dog food. put it down for 15 mins, if he doesnt eat it take it up and give to him for the next meal. again for 15 mins and again if he doesnt eat it pick it up. dont give him anything else except fresh water. keep going and dont give in!! remember you wouldnt give in to a child or give him whatever he wanted when he asked for it. hes a dog not a human he wont starve himself. worked for mine when we were almost bribing him to eat.Now he eats the dry food and no worries about his health

yes I know its not going to be a popular answer, but all I can say is it is my opinion

my dog wast the same a staffi x wouldnt eat anything so we tryed tescos own dog found it says its got meaty chunks or something like that and he loved it but he wont eat anything else.
listen to meltoadhall, don't give any treats either, he gets his food and that's it. He will try to get you to give in, DON"T. He can go for a couple of days without food, but not water. If you want to give him stuff you eat go to a RAW food diet, check out on the web.
Had a dog like this myself, only interested in what we were eating. Advised by vet to cut out all titbits and not to feed for 2 days, the theory being that by this stage she would be too hungry to be picky. It worked for us. Good luck.
