Depends on the price, pinkcows. The engine should be ok if it's been serviced at the correct intervals, however remember that all the other parts have done 148,000 miles as well though so check that the suspension ect is ok.

its £3450? its immaculate but i dont know too much apart from hubby having an old audi which has done 250,000 miles and runs like a dream!! haha...we had a rav a while ago and was great till it decided to just die at 95000 but was a petrol.
the 148k would not worry me if the service history is intact but the price is a bit steep for a 9 year old high milage car, many on ebay for 2500-3000. Also there are known issues with diesel models. Personally I like the rav4 but I'd go for a petrol one.
I can't really give any advice on the Rav4 regarding its price and inherent faults it might have, as I know nothing about it, but I can give some general advice:

I bought my current car (Peugeot 307 diesel) approx 8 years ago. It was 2 years old and a steal at £5 000. The only downside, it had 69 000 miles on the clock. It did, however, have a full service history, so I decided to take the plunge. 8 years later and the mileage now approx 140 000, I've had no major problems - I get it serviced regularly .... so if you know the ins and outs of the Rav4 and you're happy with the service history , condition, price, etc, then go for it :)
its as much about how its been driven as service history
I have a Rav4 and they are know for being capable of high mileages, but it is all in the history. High mileage on a car used regularly and gets up to operating temperature is not a bad thing if driven well. Much better than a "little old lady car" that has low mileage but only driven to the local shops once a week. You say you are part exchanging... so it is a dealer sale. Perhaps the price is not so bad from a dealer and you should have some warranty of sorts.

Sorry, but I would run a mile!
I'd run a mile, too.
Depending on what sort of journeys it has been doing the DPF may be on its last legs and they are mega expensive to replace. The knackered DPF was the main deciding factor in me throwing away my 2006 Vectra earlier this year. I pity the poor soul who picked that up from the auctions, unless they only wanted it for body panels.
