Totally agree :)
That Britten version of the Queen is by far away the best version of a turgid anthem and it ought to be the main anthem for all events.
Did I miss a song? Did they do the usual tooting, flag-waving, bending knees tune? (Can't think what it's called)

Sailor's hornpipe?
I think that's the one, Margie. Did they play it?
Yes it was good, I don't think they played the Sailor's hornpipe.
Don't they usually have a 'fat lady' rather than a thin man do the singing?
The fat lady went out years ago. That's when I stopped watching.
They did have a lady - not fat- doing some singing. I enjoyed the Mary Poppins songs.
Yep but he was rather good, his rendition of those American songs that he had re-arranged was tremendous and what a powerful voice he had, almost puts Bryn Terfel in the shade.

Getting on a bit now, but a goodie!

Britain at its patriotic best! But I must say I didn't like that version of the God Save The Queen - it's not a lively song at the best of times but that was far too slow.
Just caught last 15 mins, didn't see anything from Wales or Scotland, weren't they included this year?
oops how could I fall asleep watching this, I love it but missed the last 20 minutes, must be old age. Still remember the many times went to the RAH
in the 60's 70's 80's & 90's. oh those were the days.
