Tomatoes Falling Off

Some of my tomatoes are falling off while they are still green and small - are they not getting enough water?

Could be due to a drop in temperature, are they in a greenhouse.

No, they're out in the garden in a trough, where they've always been. They are a miniature sprawling-about variety, intended for a hanging basket.

Probably is a drop in temperature then, or maybe needs a bit of nitrogen rich fertiliser added to the soil.

Yep fingers crossed, you should have some tasty tomatoes.

I've had half a dozen already - thumbnail sized, lovely and sweet!

I take it there cherry toms then, boxy.

I guess they must be, tony - I bought them from Homebase's sick bay in a hdnging basket a few weeks back, no label but obviously tomatoes - they do have a hanging down tendency! The soil was pathetic so I repotted them in a trough and stood them on a chair so they can still dangle down :-)

By the way if you put the Green toms that have fallen of in a paper bag that will sometimes ripen them, worth a try saves throwing them away.

I've kept them - if the worst comes to the worst, we'll have another batch of green tomato chutney - yum!

Good, well at least one way or another they won't be wasted.

I am keen that I should have the windfalls, rather than the snails eating them!

Oh yes I had forgotten about the pesky snails.
