Racking my brains trying to remember the author and title of this book, I read it about 5 years ago. His dad was manager of the pier. think there was TV programme about it too. May have had the words Nights or Lights in it. Wondering which pier it was too. Hope someone out there remembers it too!

thanks for your reply I tracked it down eventually it is called Babysham Night by Philip Norman and it was about Ryde Pier IOW, thanks for answering anyway!!
