Macbook Pro And My Printer

Morning A/bs I have purchased and set up my new printer which is a hp photosmart 5520e, the printer works fine and is connected to the router but my macbook pro will not print, It has recognised the printer and has it as the default printer on my mac but stubbornly refuses to send requests to print to the printer.
I am hoping that someone out there can tell me what I am doing wrong...!!

When you set the printer up on your mac, did you have it connected to your mac wirelessly or using the USB cable?

I find that sometimes this happens with my setup. If i delete the printer from the computer and reload the drivers and do it again, it works fine.
