Barcelona Hotels??

ok i know where i want to go..the area of the beaches and marina..the castedefells (spelling) area...i want a roof top bar for pre drinks and hopefully a view of the sea! anyone recommend a hotel with these features?!open in september!

Pool on the roof and I think there was a bar there. Not sure about a sea view as I didn't spend anytime up there.

Scrap that, Castelldefels is about 12 miles outside Barca according to wiki, the hotel I've just recommended is in the city.

You're doing a good job of confusing us, Pinkcows!

Asking for a Barcelona hotel if you're planning on staying in Castelldefels is like asking us for a hotel in Brighton and then telling us that you want it in Worthing!

The massive marina complex in Barcelona, packed with bars, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities is Port Olympic, which is also right by two of the the main beaches in the city. You've previously suggested a hotel just up the road from there, which made sense to me. Now you're saying that you want it over ten miles away, in a completely different town.

Please, please, please tell us whether you actually want a hotel in Barcelona (close to Port Olympic), with rapid access to areas like Las Ramblas, or stuck out in a town further along the coast where it will take you far longer to get into central Barcelona.

Pinkcow, go into googlemaps and type 'hotels near Port Olimpic Barcelona'

A few will come up, google them to see if you like them.

TripAdvisor has an excellent (but rather well-hidden) map search feature. Here's how to use it:

Start here:

Go to 'Neighbourhood', click on 'See all' and then on 'La Vila Olimpica del Poblenou'.
Click on any hotel in the list. (The first one will do).
Click on 'Interactive Map'. (It's on the right of the page).
The map will load with 'Restaurants' pre-selected. Take a quick look at where they're concentrated, to get a feel for where the 'buzz' is in Barcelona, then deselect them and select 'Hotels' instead. (Or you can simply leave the restaurants selected as well, if you don't mind the map being rather cluttered)
Look for the words 'La Vila Olimpica del Poblenou' on the map and then place your mouse over the blue dots (representing hotels) in that area. That will bring up the names of the hotels, together with their TripAdvisor ratings. Clicking will bring up 'Show Prices'. You can then seek out further information about any hotels that interest you.

thankyou i will do that!! i have found the silken diagonal which looks just what we want but is it too far out? it says beach is only 10 min walk but map looks quite far out

Where I stayed in the H10 it was about 10 mins walk to the beach, the Silken Diagonal looks to be about that again so you're looking at a good 20 minutes walk I'd say.

I recently stayed in Spain and the hotel said it was steps away from the border to GIB. Steps away was a 15 minute walk...
