what does a roll number do?
I think banks just have the 8-digit account number
Pretty sure that just applies to Building Societies.

Thank you.
It was building society's but as they all operate the same way as banks now (current accounts and the rest) I think they have the same system as the rest of the banks. Sort code and account number.
I agree with the others - a roll number was just an account number by another name.
