If you do, do you know what is recorded on the cartridge chip embedded in each cartridge. If it is a number of the current cartridge and the printer records this number so that it can tell if you use this cartridge again, do you know how many different numbers it records and stores?
By way of explanation, My own F4580 printer records the numbers of two consecutive cartridges and therefore, you need three black and three colour cartridges in order to refilled them and reuse them in the same order.
Any useful information regarding the above will be very much appreciated.

As far as I am aware and I stand to be corrected on this each cartridge type\size is calculated (by the manufacturer) to be able to print X no. of pages. The chip acts as a counter which enables it to notify you when it gets to the 'empty' point. Because the average user cannot reset the chip, when you refill them yourself and use them they show up as empty. This has been my experience when I had an HP C4880.

I'm fairly sure '364' is a cartridge no., methyl, so 'F4580' could well be the printer model number.

Sorry about the delay replying, I have had to make a call to get the jnfo. The machine is an HP Wireless Photosmart Premium and the cartridges are No. 364.
It also has "HP 364" on the printer top if I remember correctly.
I appreciate that the majority of printers "count" the pages but some, like the HP 4580, also remember a number which is embed in the cartridge chip and I wondered if the above printer did a similar thing.
Thank you for the response.
