I haven't been refused... Yet!! Just thought that was a definite point for them to refuse me on! I know it's going to be hard to get a mortgage.. And just wished they looked into the fact they we have paid rent without a break for the last 15 years (which is higher then anybody else I knows mortgage!) we are very frugal with our money, but we are both on pretty low incomes.. So we pay a huge amount in rent, we have saved the deposit ourselves and we have (or had!) an outstanding credit report... But we are still struggling to borrow enough to buy (in the south) and each time we think were nearly there the government comes out with a new deal that helps people on high incomes, low deposit.. And bang.. House prices go up again!
Methyl - I predict your first morgage was granted in 1980.

I thik I paid 13% on a yearly pay of £6165 and took a mortgage of £12 500.
The rather cr+ppy endowment has just paid off.

My mother commented wow ! do you realise that your father and I never earned more than £6 000 ever in our lives, and it was 1962 !

those were the days
