Does an Orange sim card work in the Apple iPhone?

My friend has recently been given a Blackberry flip as an upgrade on Orange but for Valentines Day her boyfriend bought her an Apple iPhone (3G)
Can she use her Orange sim card with all its bells on (unlimited internet, fee texts and 500 mins etc.,) in the iPhone?! Is it really that simple?!

why dosent she just put it in and see? i think not as i believe o2 has an exclusive deal, but who knows?

bednobs & ChuckFickens - you were right it does not work - if anyone wants to buy a perfect, brand new iPhone it is listed on ebay x
