Mr Smow, as a surprise, booked this weekend away at the opening of the brand new Centreparcs in Woburn forest. Fri - Mon in one of the lodges for us and teen smow. Even made sure teen smow has his own room. Am really excited and think son deserves something nice. But Mr Smow didn't think about school and how strict they are about having any time off, and he's already paid for it. Am pretty sure if tell school he will be having 2 days off as holiday they will say no and if I still go then I will get a fine. Or else its a case of son developing a 'virus'.......... ?

where does all this '' fine'' money go to ?
The local education authority. I have been doing a lot of research into this and am waiting to see if our term time holiday has been authorised.
sher, so you have actually asked permission for your children. how many days ?
It's going to be eleven school days but we have asked for 'exceptional circumstances' to be taken into account.

Its ok, im not rising to it Joe......
Maybe I'm mixing up Posters here but I thought your son went to a Private School? If he does then its up to the individual school what rules if any they apply to holidays. personally I would talk to the Head, explain what has been happening for the last few months ( I understand he's had a hard time of it) and say that you feel he would benefit from some family time and if the school will not authorize his absence then you will have to pay the fine. Do not teach your children that lying is an option -its not.
You can ask for exceptional circs. smow - I know it can be approved if the child has been through a hard time at home in recent months. Depends on the school though, I guess, and the child's need to be in the classroom.
