"Wearing high heels may improve your pelvic floor muscles and in doing so boost your sex life, a study suggests.

The high heel shoe has been linked to a range of problems - from corns to schizophrenia.

But in a letter to European Urology, Dr Maria Cerruto said her research showed it was time to stand up for the heel.

She said her study of 66 women under 50 found that those who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground - the equivalent of a two inch heel - had as good posture as those who wore flat shoes, and crucially showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles."

In an age when most doctors spout spurious nonsense that everything is bad for you, isn't it reassuring to find one that bucks the trend?

I always wear heels but didn't realise they were of benefit to my pelvic floor muscles!

Now, where did i put those ping pong balls?
hhh, so that's where I'm going wrong? Constantly wearing wellies is obviously not good for me eh? ;-(

I haven't had electrical activity in my pelvic muscles for ages, but in high heels, I'd be flat on my face !!!
Finally, an argument that shows my shoe obsession is actually practical! I've been saying for years that my stiletto heels are a necessary part of ensuring my pelvic muscles are exercised.

In case anyone is interested I brought a dark blue, patent pair at the weekend reduced from 50 to 12. They have about a six inch heel according to my mother but I'm sure it's more like four inches so I will be getting lots of exercise.

Did anyone else thing that those strappy sandles in that article were quite nice?
Thats China sorted then! Lol
lol, well its a 'lazy' way to improve the pelvic floor but a nice one!
yeah China the sandals are lovely
What a bargain, China!
I'm not too keen on the sandals cos I once had a similar pair I took on holiday. I ended up with a very interesting pattern of tanned skin/pale skin on my legs!
I had a pair similar to them but they weren't as high heeled as those ones. Mind you I did nearly break my neck wearing them in Spain on an uneven pavement!
I just bought wedge ones like that but unsure how to tie them properly, Ive put them away for this summer!

I can imagine if I dont tie them tight enough they'll be all 'Nora Batty' round the ankles lol (not a good look)
They're not too high and the heel looks quite sturdy.

They'd go nicely with a white summer dress I think. And curly hair.

Hmmmm.....
indeed, but if you want enough electrical activity in your pelvis to turn the lights on when you enter the room, you plainly need flatties.
Thinks hard

Nope, I don't get it jno.
Static shocks are quite annoying. I get them a lot at work. Is it rubber soles on carpets that cause them?
no, I'm not sure I get the electric pelvis bit myself, China.
Most of the stores that you like in the mall have websites that allow you to shop online. Some of my favorites is shoespie. They are offering the same shoe in a variety of heel heights.
