Are they any good? I saw tesco has an isis/e-motion 50" full hd tv for £329, is it worth buying? my sister bought a Polaroid 40" from asda and she says its great.

The John Lewis one is very nice but not full HD.
A lot of them are exactly the same as more expensive ones. Just simply rebadged to suit the retailer.

Cheap TVs use cheap components, cheap screens etc.

Samsung, LG etc use quality components, quality screens etc.

You get what you pay for.
Argos has a Hitachi 50" smartscreen tv reduced from £499 to £399 at the moment. Seems worth the extra £70.
We got a small one from Morrisons years ago for just under £50 and it's been brilliant
