Why Can't I Reply Or Ask A Question ??

I'm on my missus' laptop now, which is why I'm able to ask this question !!!!
Everything was fine last night, I asked a question on here and posted a few replies. Now, when I try to post a question or answer a question, it won't let me press "submit".
When you hover your cursor over the submit button, it usually highlights it and it turns a blueish colour. Plus when you start typing, the numbers to the left of the "submit" button start counting from 0/4000 .... etc. When I start typing an answer on my laptop, the numbers read 0/NaN .... and the submit button doesn't highlight and so I can't press it.
My account is obviously fine as I'm on here and I'm using the same setup as my missus - Win 8 and IE.
Anyone any ideas please ??

There's a symbol like a torn piece of paper, top of screen near refresh symbol
click on that
Have you tried turning it off - not sleep, not restart, a proper 'shutdown' - and then count 20 after all the lights/fans have gone off before starting it again.

When it happened to me, I emailed the Ed that ^^^ up there was his solution

It's the "compatibility view" just in case anyone's wondering :)
I've used that torn bit of paper symbol too in the past, it's the compatability icon, useful little icon!
snap, giz :-)

Yeh, cheers, I couldn't remember what it was called.
that might explain why I couldn't post for 3 weeks. cheers giz ;)
The symbol like a piece of torn paper tells me that you folk are using Internet Explorer. Not the best of Browsers.

Hans.
