I have 440GB free of 465GB external hard disk. when I wanna use it, my computer cannot recognize it. how can I fix it and use my hard disk safely.

Try reformatting the external hard drive (back up any important files currently on it first).

Not great advice as you will lose EVERYTHING on it if you format it.

Try it on another PC and see if it works on there.
