I Phone 4. App Store Not Downloading Apps , Skype Etc. Help Plz

just tried to download skype on my iphone 4, was able to downlaod emotions apps 2 days ago no problems there, but now i cannot down load any apps wether using app store or safari . i enter skype in search bar and press enter but nothing happens, in safari i enter skype in search box, skype comes up, i press download, nothing happens, so my phone is not downloading for some strange reason.
what could be wrong ?
