Problem With Wireless Printing

I have recently received a new router from BT (the BT Home Hub 4) and now I can't print via wireless. I have to say that the wireless range and the speed with the new router are appalling but that's another story! I can connect the printer to the router but my laptop cannot see the printer even if I sit within 2 feet of the router and the printer. I can only print by plugging in a cable. Wireless printing worked perfectly well with the previous router. I'm running Windows 8.1 if that's relevant. Any advice appreciated, thanks very much.
