One of the 'bigger' news stories on BBC South East for a day or two is that the Kent airport, Manston, will be closing. Tonight it was said to going ahead as soon as April 9th.

So why then are KLM advertising tonight on prime time (8:30 - 9:00) saying book now and fly to the Amsterdam hub from Manston ????

Sounds like double Dutch to me.
presumably this is your last chance to fly locally; and they have no reason to want empty seats?
TV ads pre-booked that's all.

The closure of the airport is a huge disappointment for the region, especially when there is demand for more runways not less. Why could it not be developed ahead of a new one on the Thames estuary? Instead it's been sold for £1 to a property developer. Outragious.
Wasn't there talk a while back that it might be upgraded?
Very sad. Have flown into Manston when I used to fly.
A pound !!!!you are joking right, how does that work then :-(
It was sold to a founder of Stagecoach (the bus company) for £1. I do not think she is a property developer.

It has also been suggested that the ban on night time flights made the airport unviable.
Scottish businesswoman Ann Gloag, who co-founded the Stagecoach Group, bought Manston airport for £1 last year, but under the new owner it was losing £10,000 per day.
