I am babysitting my Niece and Nephews if the teachers strike next week, so was looking at taking them out for the day, just looked at the cost of taking them to Whipsnade Zoo- its was going to cost £72 for the 4 of us. Sadly i can't afford this (i know it works out at under £20 per person but on my own i just can't afford it) has anyone got any other idea for me that are a bit cheaper. (the children are 5,10,15) and i live near junction 16 on the M1 TIAx

Any local museums ? They're free..then a burger out perhaps..
Why should you pay if you're doing the parents a favour by looking after them?
Anyway, how about a farm or garden centre. Greentrunks in Kettering has some good reviews.
Salcey forest. Kids like the tree top walk.
Teachers on strike next week?

I didn't know about that. Which day?
Why the need to take them out? By rights they should be at school, so tell them to bring some text books. You could make the day a bit special by taking them for a pizza or something at lunchtime.
And the Rubbish Aunt/Uncle Award goes to McMouse.
What about Billing Aquadrome?
These are great if the weather's dry, I've done London Docklands and Westminster which are very good, London West End wasn't great.

Plenty to look at on Docklands plus the museum is there, Westminster has great landmarks and the Embankment is just over the river.
Sorry, misread M1 for M25! :)

Thanks Chaps, i like to take them out as its nice to spend the time with them on something they enjoy, like the zoo. (my 10 yr old nephew had a trip to london for his christmas present). Salcey Forest is a good shout, but i want to take my niece to the gruffalo walk when that comes out at in a couple of weeks, so don't want to go to many times - feeding hte ducks at the aquadome is a good shout.

Apprently they are striking on Wednesday of next week.
Blimey, I didn't put the link up did I. They're might be a hunt for an area near you.

What about the Science museum?
If it rains take them to see a film. They would love it especially if its 3D.
What about bowling?
Take them to London (parents can pay train fares) and take them to the Natural Science Museum. I loved that place when I was a child.
