Alex Salmond went to see the Queen to ask about Scotland being independent.

The Queen rejected his first suggestion of making Scotland a Principality as " that would make you a Prince".

Salmond then queried if Scotland could become a Kingdom. "No" replied the Queen "as that would make you a King".

Her Majesty was concerned that Salmond was about to burst into tears, so being as helpful as she could she attempted to console him saying "I think though that Scotland could be a country".

Very good Alba and very appropriate.
I rememeber hearing the same joke about Maggie Thatcher (told on radio by Kenny Everet) which also included The Empire and being an Emperor. The killer punchline though was being a country and therefore run by...... Maggie Thatcher. He was instantly sacked by the BBC for that. Why? People don't like to hear the truth I suppose.

Truth hurts Jan! The beeb probably thought more would be offended rather than be amused!

(I've just noticed DTC posted similar on a different thread yesterday :-(
Alba,
It'll be interesting to see what currency will be used if the sheep vote YES. I suppose he coul start up his own bank(he certainly has the ego for it) He can call it ECKBANK and have a pic of him on the 10 groat note and a pic of that Sturgeon woman of the 5 bawbee coin.
Honestly, that pair are making us a laughing stock around the world and will turn Scotland into a North Vietnam with a chubby bully at the helm. Makes you proud eh ?

IF it's a yes vote, there'd have to be an election surely?
Otherwise it'd be just a dictatorship?
The thought of their mugs on money would seriously devalue it before it even got going!
Also, if there's a yes vote, the SNP will automatically no longer be needed. They've only ever had this ONE policy in their blinkered bigoted minds. An election will follow and then we will just end up with what we have already. Same old same old. All the in-fighting between west/east, rich/poor, north/south,left/right,. We won't SUDDENLY become a Happy United Scotland where we all love one another. What we will end up with is what we already have only a million times worse because we will be soooooo isolated from the rest of the world and reality.
OK, rant over for the day. Nice to talk to a sensible person Alba.
xx

I agree with you Jan xx
(But I've never been sensible in me life!)
But Salmond demurred and declared Scotland a State, and he became St Salmond.
Don't beat about the bush, Janbee. Tell us what you really think about Scottish independence! :-)

This is in Jokes, dog with a bone comes to mind!
;o)
bahhh
some times sheep are not smart enough to know that they are the sheep ;)
Totally love it
Count Salmond ?.......no it don't sound right
Has Tony published the Scotland post independence map - that is hilarious, funniest thing that I have seen in a month.

Dave published it earlier in the week, DT.
Definitely, Lady J - after all we ask for passports to be carried into the Duchy of Cornwall.
