Espresso ... Really??

Okay, small confession first.

I'm sitting in Starbucks, trying to kid myself that I'm "up and at 'em" because I've made it out of my flat. But, in reality, doing bugger all.

However ...

While I've been sitting here (sorry, I mean "grabbing a coffee while catching up on some important work", ahem) several people have bought an Espresso to go.

So they walk out, carefully holding their little cardboard cup, which contains about 2cms of coffee. And takes about five seconds to drink.

Where are they going? Do they get to work, and think ... okay, only NOW can I drink my teeny little coffee, which has, of course, gone cold by that time.

If you want an Espresso shot, don't you go in, buy it, and drink it? If you take a coffee away, it should give you a good half an hour of drinking, once you finally get round to drinking it.

I enjoy watching the world go by. Especially here, coz there are so many weirdos. Not me, of course. I'm normal. Well, not "normal" for here. "Normal" for here is weird, if you see what I mean.

Just saying.

Well that lovely Sqad still giving your children piggy back rides!!

"outside and the feeling of son on one's neck and back was fabulous"
RATTER.......LOL....the bloody kids and grandkids are a thousand or so miles away..........best place.
When the come to visit (only rarely), we book them into a villa or hotel...NEVER....stay with us.
mikey, sadly most of the good coffee houses have gone now, done in by the large coffee chains, costa coffee is ok, i think that Nero coffee company is better and they sell this amazing sicilian lemon cheesecake, which is divine
I see Sqad, so you actually meant "SUN not son" :-) lol

A very jolly chat, in the midst of which, Scrivens hits the nail on the head ... and so gets the best answer tee shirt.
I wondered about that too haha, I more commonly see people order Expressos in Neros, mainly groups of foreign guys who go and sit outside with them but I find the takeaway Starbucks version a little strange.

There are some nice places for coffee round here, some lovely little independent places. My expresso drinking is normally in an Italian restaurant slipped slowly.

I usually grab a coffee mid work journey and at not long after 6am in the morning it's a venti for me. That expresso cup isn't even a decent gulp!

There is someone I see in there some mornings who has 5 extra shots in their drink, I drink a lot of coffee but I'd be on the ceiling with that!
Arghh espresso even! Excuse auto text crap.

I am rather jealous of al fresco breakfast. It was raining heavily here but perked up a bit now and some sunshine, I'm hoping on reading outside a coffee shop with my book later.

Not sure how it would taste with five extra shots.

I like the idea of " slipping" your espresso.

It's a bit wet and wild here. Defo not sitting outside weather.
Starbucks coffees make me feel ill- maybe they're disappearing to pour them away. JJ, if you are on your tablet on AB, you ARE conducting important business!
Oh, haha! Sipping even! Mind you, I do occasionally like coffee with a bit of a liqueur kick to it, when not using it to prop me up for a working day :)

It was here earlier Jayne but brightening up nicely now.

I like Brighton normal, I remember collecting there for charity many years ago in a basque, hotpants, stockings etc... (more of a goth lock than just going out in my actual underwear!) and most people didn't bat an eyelid :)

Had to do a mad dash through M&S after I'd got changed before I got kicked out though probably need not have worried!

So true!

Eve, you can wear anything around here, and no one gives you a second glance.

What would be really creepy is if you came into the town one day, and everyone was dressed and behaving normally. That would be REALLY weird.
I can recommend the Bar Italia if any of you are in Town. Its right in the heart of Soho, just a stones throw from Piccadilly Circus, and China Town. Apparently it was the first place in London to serve real espresso coffee. Turn up on a warm night at about midnight, and all the street life and entertainment comes free !
