And also its the same old story, the white man portraid as the nasty racist and the blackman is the poor hard done by victim.......... Makes me sick!

I totally agree Factor-fiction. But my point is, its ALWAYS shown as white on black racism. No matter what it is, when ever racism is discussed it always white on black. There is quite often programs showing racism, can anyone remember one that shows racism by black/asians against whites?....... Or any court cases where blacks or asians are charged with racial crimes against whites?? It never happens. The law always twists and turns it and sweeps it under the carpet...........

I watched it last night to see what all the fuss was about and I totally agree, the reaction of the whole street to a comment made with no malice intended was so ridiculously over the top, it was totally unrealistic. It was like watching some kind of public information film. I'm surprised there wasn't one of those stupid announcements at the end 'if you have been affected by issues raised blah blah blah'. Why do soaps try to raise social issues? They exist to entertain, nothing more.

Hc4361 you seem to have miss read my original post! I was talking about black/asian on white racism. Not inciting murder and terrorism or homophobia! You've got the gobby black woman correct but look where you found it for godsake!!! The Huffington post??? I seem to remember the white woman who did something very similar was plastered over EVERY national news paper and TV channel!!! So, I say again, its always hidden away and swept under the carpet if its black/asian on white racism!

I regularly read the papers and watch the news but hc4361s link is the first time ive seen the or heard anything about the black woman racist. Without doubt you're right judders. When the white woman did the same you couldnt avoid hearing it, seeing it, reading it. It was every where. And they just wouldnt drop it. Every day for weeks it was either in the papers or on the news!!

the thing is, the usual voice of impartiality and rteason, ken, is in canada and so cannot mount his usual soap box with half pint in hand, therefore they have had to use other actors to present this public service message, and sadly, it's gone downhill from there.

Assume martians makes up 8% of the population and makes a racist comment insulting a white, native born Brit. The Brit tells his friends and they all conclude - what do you expect from an ignorant, nasty, smelly, robbing, thieving, raping, grooming, kiddy fiddling, dirty, thick, ugly, benefit grabbing, work shy, murdering, animal abusing martian? They're all the same.

So the white, native born Brit feels he is right to feel superior and can ignore the opinion of the martian. After all, it doesn't impact on his life. He is surrounded by thousands just like him, his boss is just like him, the newspaper he reads reflects his views, the government is just like him, the officials are just like him, tv shows are full of people just like him - why should he worry about the opinion of a martian?

And when that white, native born Brit moves to Spain for the sun, cheap fags and cheap booze why should he learn to speak Spanish? The Costa he has chosen to live in is full of bars serving all day English breakfasts, pints of Carlsberg and Guinness - in fact the pubs are called The English Bar, The St George, The Irish Bar, The Thistle, The Welsh Dragon. The newsagent is called WH Smiff and hurrah! there is a Spa selling thick white bread, streaky bacon and Cheddar cheese. No need to bother with those robbing, cheating, Spaniards at all - they are all after your money, and hate you any way for buying all the houses in the village....
