Brasso worked on cleaning chrome as well as brass.
Solvol Autosol?
Yes Douglas - I think you've got it
Autosol was / is a paste in a tube, I used to use it on my alloy wheels back in the seventies.
Duraglit ?
Yep, that's the stuff, Douglas.

Duraglit! That's it. Thank you all.
I'm sure that Duraglit was a sort of impregnated wadding stuff ?
So I see, dave, I only ever used the paste version though, got better results on the alloy wheels ( they hadn't used to be painted or lacquered in those days ).

Yes it was, dave.
Duraglit was the cleaner of choice for cleaning your BRASS buttons on your best uniform. (Using with a button stick)
Silvo and Brasso were the liquid ones, I think Solvol was a paste?
Solvo still is a paste in a metal tube, there is some in the shed.
