I always thought Old Holborn and Golden Virginia were much stronger than the tobacco you'd get in bought cigarettes. Even though roll ups are usually thinner you would probably get the same dose of poison, so no safer.
When I smoked Old Holborn I was told, and liked to believe at the time, that roll ups were better than tailor mades because the tailor mades contained salt peter in the paper to stop the cigarette going out prematurely. Both contain other poisons and an addictive drug so the salt peter argument was academic.

Doesn't sound as though I'm on a winner, eh - Many Thanks Both.
what do you mean when you say "safer"? less likely to cause you lung/oesphageal/mouth cancer?
Hi woodelf: Roll Ups will cost you a lot less... which is good news... for your relatives when you drop dead from lung cancer :-)
The trouble is nobody drops dead from lung cancer. It's a long drawn out process and causes a great deal of stress to family members watching someone they love fighting for every breath.
Very topical ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Everly_Brothers#Death_of_Phil_Everly
On January 3, 2014, Phil Everly died at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, at the age of 74. The cause of his death was complications attributed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (a combination of emphysema and bronchitis), brought on by a lifetime of smoking.
Rollups are more paper than tobbaco, they blacken & rot teeth ime. Cigs are safer but will cause lung disease in time.

Well done giving up, have you tried Nicorette patchesm I think theyre on prescription & free

have you tried the e-cigs? they are supposed to be brilliant and a damn site safer than roll ups
Woodelf---thinking of you at this time.Am only up to day 3, am eating thin pieces of raw carrot often. The carrot has not improved my vision yet, yesterday I tripped over a cable in the bedroom, and banged my head on the wardrobe, but am growing two long front teeth !!!!!Regards Brenda.
woodelf, OH smokes roll-ups - if you don't use the filter tips, you don't get all the nasties (and rare elements) from the tips, just straight tobacco. None of them are good for you, but you can make a roll-up as skinny as you like, with minimal tobacco.

Good luck with the cold turkey, OH gave up before when he had an operation, but started again - however, he smokes much less now he's on roll-ups and it costs a lot less!
good luck.
If you're struggling, try the low nicotine patches. They are fantastic. Or ecigs would probably be better than roll-ups or cigarettes. But well done, it's not easy, so don't undo all the effort you've made so far x

Yes Cazzz, I have thought about E-cigs and in June last year, I began an AB thread in which I had lots of great response, especially from B00 and Divegirl, but I didn't do anything about it and as it's difficult sometimes to buy things using a screen reader etal, I had thought about asking either B00 or Divegirl to buy these E-cigs on my behalf, but I shied away from that too; a bit too presumptive on my part.
But now, I've done an actual week without a fag and used nowt else except willpower...or summat like that...but I could really murder a fag!...a ciggie I mean, not a....well, you know what I mean!
But Many Thanks All for your support.
