When you have a new passport delivered, would you expect it to need to be signed for?

My sons new one has just been shoved through the door and when I called out after the delivery guy he looked to be signing the electronic device himself... he had his headphones in and when I shouted 'Don't I need to sign for that?' he just shrugged and walked off :0/

When I take a delivery I have to sign a small hand-held device on a little slippery glass screen with a small stylus, the result looks so different from my real signature that anyone could have written it.

I think you pay extra to have it delivered by "signed for" post... Although I may be wrong.
No, I've never signed.

Oh okay, I thought they would want to make sure it was delivered into the right hands.
Noooo worries.
