Whilst holidaying in tenerife i intend to make a couple of short calls (2-3 minutes) each day. I have told everyone not to call me so I shouldn't have to receive any.I haven't needed to use my phone abroad before and i'm not sure what is the cheapest option.I have the choice of using my contract phone or a pay as u go. Any suggestions?

Don't use your mobile unless you can afford the resulting bill, the cheapest option is to use a telephone cabin where you pay about 19 cents per minute. If anybody calls your mobile don't pick up the call as you pay to receive the call as well. I always take a mobile to spain but its for real emergencies only and also thats where I keep my phone numbers
Both are expensive, I live in spain and i would recom. getting a calling card a 5 Euro card will last for around 2hrs.

If you insist on using a mob. abroad the if ure with voda, get the passport option its available on both phones and u pay 75p for each call made and then the uk call rate
