Youtube Sound Problem

For the past week the sound on videos played after searching for them on YouTube is dreadful, breaking up and crackling all the time. I thought there must be a fault with my speaker connections as my PC is very old but I am surprised to discover tonight that it is not that - I've just posted a YouTube link onto a music thread on AB, played it back and the sound was perfect. How can this be? How can I solve the problem, could it be YouTube settings please? Can any of you clever people please advise me - you have never failed me yet! ;) Ta muchly!

When you are on You Tube are you logged with your Google account as this will enable you to have access to all of the features otherwise you only get the basic ones and the sound is one of them . Try to do this and see if it works it did for me.

Thanks for advice galeck - just tried that but it's unfortunately made no difference at all :(
