Can you buy these over the counter or are they just on prescription

They are definitely available to buy over the counter, we bought one in the summer when we were away from home and my husband needed one. We rang Asda pharmacy who told us they would sell us one but they had none in stock. We then went to a lloyds pharmacy who had them in. It cost £7.50. I understand it's a new policy which came in last year.

Just to make it clear, this was for the whole thing, medicine cannister and plastic inhaler.

That's really odd. The bnf, had it listed as a prescription only medicine. Are yo ure it wasn't prescribed for example by a non medical presciber like the pharmacist?

I wonder if it is sold over the counter because of the type of drug it is, and the dangers of not having one, like the gtn spray ferlew got ?

Asda have been selling Ventolin Inhalers over the counter since July 2012. Customers over the age of 16 can buy 2 inhalers for £7.

Asthma is not one of the conditions this applies to boxtops, despite an asthma attack being life threatening. Many of us asthma/COPD sufferers have been petitioning the government on the issue for several years.

Thanks guys just got around to catching up on my thread... yes I was asking about the inhaler and medicine and have since found out as SMP says they can be brought in asda pharmacy
