I joined the company I work for in May. On my contract is states that pay day is 28th of each month, however every single month so far it's been paid on 24th. Until this month, where it still hasn't been received. Are they allowed do to that or is there a maximum number of days (like 30) that they need to pay you in? I know it's only a few days to most people but it makes a difference to me.

I'm going to get charged for two failed direct debits (from yesterday) so would they have to reimburse me or is is just my problem?

You can oly complain if your salary hasn't reached your bank by the 28th. Just because they paid you early a few times doesn't mean you have any right to assume you will always be paid early.
Sorry, I think it's just your problem. Maybe they paid last month on 24th as it's a Thursday to make sure you had the money in your account by 28th.However if it has been the practice to pay on the 24th for a long time- say a year then staff could argue it was custom and practice. Anyway it's Thursday tomorrow- they need to pay you by then
Always best to pay a few days in hand in case the process has a hiccup and the payroll needs to be run a second time. It also allows for weekends and bank hols. I can only assume they have a problem with their system or a delay at the bank so try to see it from their point of view. They've always paid punctually so i doubt this is intentional or untoward, instead some poor soul in Finance tearing his/her hair out!

My advice is to move your DDs to the first few days of the month to be sure the funds are there in future. Lets hope you are paid today and all's well for the weekend.

As I said, they've always paid early. They do same day payments. My manager told me that it's because they are financially in the s**t and that they basically had to make sure the bank account was running with the least available funds possible in case the receivers came in. Now I'm told that they've simply not had the funds to pay everyone so far this week.

Thanks anyway.
Awww that is different Evianbaby, i hope you've been paid today, any news?
The contracted pay date is 28th, which is tomorrow, although it may be that that means it doesn't hit your account until Friday. Let us know what happens, Evian
Any pay received yet, Evian?
