Are they still working in your area - or are they just pretending ?

Seem to be the latter in my part of the UK.

Still got plods hiding in hedges around here - breaking every single one of the 'code of conduct' guidelines about deterrence and visibility etc - but hey, it raises a few quid for the Policeman's Ball ...
No...all of ours are turned off.
The fixed ones may be ummmm, but the mobile plods are still lurking at 'revenue raising' points ...
this posting relates to the Just thought I'd share post one p to many
At any one time I believe only 40% are activated, but changed from time to time obviously.
Is it true that the two holes in the back of each camera have to be open? If they are closed, then it's not operational? Or is that just an Urban Myth?
I would not give them the satisfaction, your out of the speed limit are in a matter of mins, is it worth the chance?

All turned of in my neck of the woods, they say that wet film is to expensive.
Sadly not turned off in Edinburgh. Just received notification of Fine £100 and 3 points for indiscretion 14 days ago.
Merry Christmas...
Crikey £100? Were you going a thousand miles an hour?

All the fixed cameras on my manor are off, probably because most have been burned out. Gardai now using vans but some of those have also been burned.
cash cow near me, A127 at Laindon, dual carriageway , 70 mph either side of a bend in the road where a roundabout used to be, 40 mph on that bit. A right little earner. Always in the local rag £100 fines plus 3 penalty points, at least 6 a week.
Although I agree to speed cameras in certain places, Schools, Built up area's, We have a section on the A59 it used to be 40mph, now 30mph It has caught out a hell of a lot of drivers, you might say its the Law, I say its a revenue collector, its the motorist every time.
Around here we have a mix, some work some don't. Also FYI they're supposed to make available the positions of the cameras both fixed and mobile. In Notts its all on this site.

They have all been turned off here in Northants for the last couple of years. Still a couple of vans roaming the streets though!
There are still quite near Derby, don't know if they work though
Is there a way of telling without risking a fine?
