I'm don't know what the music world can do to get over the misconception that opera is somehow for a particular type of person.

It's nothing to do with the ticket prices, otherwise we would say that Premiership football matches were only for the affluent, educated, upper middle classes. It's certainly cheaper to go to the English National Opera than it is to go and watch Arsenal.
'Opera' is a very big field - it's like saying 'I like sport' - Some may like it all but it is possible to like specific areas (was going to say 'arias' but someone already did that joke) just as it is possible to like netball without liking cricket.
Maybe I need to buy some more Vivaldi, shoota.

My Vivaldis are limited to the usual suspects ... the "4" one, etc.

Although, rifling through my CDs, I do have a copy of his Recorder Concertos. I bet there are not many composers who've written one of those. Actually, I think that was why I bought it.
Nobody would do the aria/area gag.

It would be too painful.
Callas is the google doodle today
Just for JJ ......... The Largo from Vivaldi's Concerto for Lute.
Baroque chillin' music :o)
