I've been with the same company for 18 years and have been paying into their pension scheme.I've been offered a new job and am wondering if I can continue to pay into my old companies pension scheme

If it was a company scheme i doubt it very much- I've never heard of it. You can leave it where it is or ask your new employer if you can transfer it into theirs
I don't think so. When I left a previous company, the pension contribution with that company was frozen at that point, so I could claim it later when I became eligible.

Does your new company offer a contributory scheme? If not you can always take out a private pension plan of your own, to cover the gap.
