Going to have fish, chips and mushy peas soon and just noticed my Mayonnaise jar says use before Dec 13th, but one month after being opened, which I think was 5 months ago.

Do you think its OK?

Mayonnaise lasts a lot longer than the labelling suggests. The vinegar in it is a very good preservative Taste it - if it's OK then have some more. If it tastes off or slightly fizzy - discard it. I've a jar in the fridge that DD uses on occasional visits - it must be several months after the use by date. Not come to grief yet.

Smell it and taste a bit. You'll know then.
I wouldn't. :(
Is it furry yet ?
If kept in fridge it is probably ok but it depends how you feel about it.
Does it smell OK? That's how I usually decide.
I`d chuck it. 5 months is a bit long.

Tartar sauce surely!!
I've used mayonnaise six months after opening to no ill effect. If it tastes all right and hasn't got whiskers then go for it.
We've been eating some with a use-by date of Oct 2012, with no ill effects.
Looks like this thread might morph into "who's eaten the oldest mayonnaise and survived", which could be entertaining :-)
Sometimes not being able to read small print has its advantages - think I had Ortolan for dinner last night.

//The Ortolan, or Ortolan Bunting is a bird in the bunting family///

How many of those ^^^^ for a reasonable meal mamya?
I managed four till I started to choke on the feathers.
Short on giblets for a good gravy too.
