i have piranhas..but i have a feeling that they may not be actual "red bellied" (as told when buying them).


they have red gills and a red anal fin they are 6 months old and about 6inches long,with only a hint of pink underneath...any ideas??

There are quite a few species of piranha including the vegetarian Pacu.
Yours might just be showing some juvenile colouration. Red bellied piranha are usually slate grey with sparkly dots on with a complete red underneath from jaw to anal fin.
Give them chance, the red might develop further.....or you might have a different species.
