We are looking to find somewhere cheap (self catering?) around the Weymouth area-ish in late November for a week. Where would you recommend? Ideally we would like a pub in walking distance and some nice restaurants within reach (we are both foodies and love good food). We need to pop to Weymouth one day to organise a turkey for our stay in Weymouth over Christmas but apart from that we are fairly flexible on location.

Take your woolies - also as you know it is off season
theres a couple of Haven holiday parks in Weymouth.
As you seem to know Weymouth you will know it's a bit sprawling but Dorchester is far more contained with lots of pubs and good restaurants (including the Michelin starred Siena) all within walking distance of each other. It all depends on what you call cheap? There's a Premier Inn recently opened in the new Brewery Square development right by a new cinema and the usual chain eateries. That's looking about £421 a week for 2 round the end of November.

No Prudie - we don't know Weymouth at all but a family member has booked us all in for Christmas (hence the need to organise the turkey). November isn't going to be a great time for a holiday but we need to use up time owing to us at work before the end of year .... but never mind
The Dolphin Hotel might well meet your needs. It's a traditional (real ale) pub, close to the sea front and town centre:

While the Dolphin has had some poor reviews on TripAdvisor in the past, all seven of the people who've reviewed it so far this year have given it a maximum 5 star rating:

For good food, try the Harbour Bridge Restaurant

which has outstanding reviews:
