Stabbing Pain In My Big Toe

For the last 24 hours I have had a stabbing, neuralgia-type pain in my right big toe - it kept me awake last night. It hasn't been relieved by Paracetamol. It's at the bottom of the nail, doesn't hurt to touch, but just goes on stabbing.

I've looked on the internet but nothing seems to answer it. I don't think it's gout because there is no swelling or redness.

Any ideas please?

Still time for the redness and swelling to appear.

Pack in with the Paracetamol and change to Ibuprofen at least 400mgms minimum in one go every 4 hours if necessary.

Hello Sqad, thanks for your reply - I've been told that I can't take Ibuprofen because of my blood pressure tablets (3 different sorts) -shall I risk it?
Yes, I would.
