The law has been done. He has been to prison for the first offence and banned from driving for 5 years for the second.

Don't forget these incidents were nearly 30 years apart.

Cycle helmets? The Court specifically said that, to quote the senior judge's word, the absence of one was not 'mitigatory' and should not have been considered by the lower court. Nevertheless, the sentence was correct even ignoring that matter.
