My five year old grandson is a very fussy eater, he has school dinners, when he was moaning about his dinner last weekend I asked him if he ate his school dinners, sometimes, he said, on being asked what was his favourite school dinner, his reply, pudding.
Standing in the Post Office queue when my grandson was about 4 he shouted to a boy he knew (mummy had to get stuff from the shop because I had nits..) Funny now but not at the time.
This made me smile....we were at a dear friends funeral, she had many great grandchildren. Lots of games had been organised for them, a treasure hunt, and ice cream van too.As several rosy cheeked little people rushed past me, I heard one of them say "Oh I DO love Grannies leaving party" It really put a feel good factor into a sad day.:)
Granddaughter came back from first day at school with homework, told her mum she couldn't do it, when asked why she replied 'I can't read yet, teacher hasn't taught me' she had a point.
I thought it was funny when thing 1 (who is teeny tiny for 5 years old) turned round and called boy #2 'a filthy liar' - no idea where she gets it from.
Not recent but when my daughters were young I took them regularly to the hairdresser to have their hair cut.
After one such visit my 7year old said " when I am big I'm going to let my hair grow right down my back " when I asked why that was she said "because by then you will be dead and I don't know my way to the hairdressers "
Now I know that she hated having her hair cut ,but really
Over 30 years ago now but I still smile when I think about it. Strange how children's minds work.
Last week grandson (4) hurt himself when he was playing with a stapler. Yes, I shouldnt have let him, I know. As I hugged him he wailed "You didnt tell me to be careful".
I give English lessons to kids. On their first lesson I always ask why they're learning English and if they've heard English spoken before. One little 4 year old informed he'd heard English in the street, English in a shop but he hadn't heard English in a car yet!!! His mate didn't really want to learn English cos he was frightened he wouldn't be able to speak French anymore!!
