But first he will take a year off to contemplate which charities to lend his backing to.

/// The palace said he currently has a particular interest in the preservation of endangered species. /// Mmmmmmm.

/// William and his young family are reportedly sad to leave Anglesey ///

I wouldn't have thought that the baby would even know that he was in Anglesey, never mind being sad to leave it.

resigned or resigned, Dot? Hard to figure out them military contracts.
I did wonder how someone could resign every day for nine years :-D
Presumably we also bemoan the waste of money training all the other RAF pilots who leave and take their skills to commercial airlines. Anyway I know it makes people feel good to knock the Royals and their fabulous life - never having a minute without being watched, a minute to speak out like a normal person, a minute to go anywhere and be free. They can keep it.
"what a lot of money wasted on training him, just to leave after a few years in 'the job', maybe he could be a house husband and ''the wife'' could go out to work ?"

hes been in 7 years...how long in your opinion should he have stayed then
How long was your National Service AOG, 18 months?
William has done seven and a half years so is entitled to a change. He now has a child so a more conventional working day will suit his family better.
Rather than be Patron of hundreds of causes and not being able to do them all justice, he is following his mother and picking a handful of causes which he is onterested in. That way he can be effective and spend time doing the job properly.
He may have resigned, but his job has effectively been abolished. The RAF will no longer undertake Search and Rescue. It had been replaced with a Private American Company.
I concur with what Prudie said entirely.

Furthermore, for those knocking him and saying it's been a waste of money I doubt the people he rescued saw it that way.
Also, the lad has given 7 years of his time in HM Forces, when the majority of those belittling him couldn't even summon the courage to walk through a recruiting office doorway.

Agreed, ^^^ and well said chill!
Thanks for the endorsement Baldric.
