Car Renewal Claims

This may be a dumb question but I'm due to renew car insurance so looking at a comparison site. Had a minor accident in July which is not yet settled.

Asked about claims for quotation it asks description of claim. I selected 'accident-not settled' but it won't let me proceed without entering a cost. Another option is 'incident-no claim made'. Do I select that one? I am not claiming anything but the driver of the other vehicle is claiming injury.

Confused!

Hmmm, personally I wouldn't go for the latter.

I can understand why the comparison sites are not forthcoming, they are being asked to quote on an unknown quantity.

Maybe worth trying a broker under these circumstances.
This isn't an incident because a claim is being made against you, so you have to put claim and give an estimate of the amount. If you put anything else and then the details change it is likely the price will go up, even after you have converted the quote into a policy so it is better to be honest while you have the internet discounts working in your favour.

Thanks. I'll have to give my insurance a ring later to get some sort estimate cost and have a word with some brokers.
evian, you are likely to find that your renewal figure will be affected since you have a claim in progress.
